Lenny's Shoe & Apparel has donated over $50,000 to the Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf since 2010

PLATTSBURGH, NY - On Saturday, October 25, locals shopped till they dropped - and raised more than $16,000 to fight hunger.

During the 5th annual Charity Sale, Lenny's Shoe & Apparel and its customers collectively raised $16,817 for the Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf. Today, Lenny's co-owner Todd McCarthy presented a check for $3,975 to JCEO Community Outreach Program Director Sally Soucia. Tomorrow Lenny's will present the Vermont Foodbank with a check for $12,842.

"What an incredible donation!" said Soucia. "We are deeply grateful to Lenny's and their loyal customers for their partnership. Together we are ensuring that our neighbors have the food they need during times of great need."

Lenny's customers were encouraged to make a donation to the Vermont Foodbank and JCEO Plattsburgh Foodshelf in exchange for a VIP ticket to the one day Charity Sale featuring exclusive storewide savings. 100% proceeds from each VIP ticket sold went directly to the non-profit organizations. In addition to the ticket proceeds, Lenny's also donated a percentage of the day's total sales. This donation translates to over 50,000 meals for area children, families and seniors who experience hunger.

"Our customers have astounded us once again with their generosity," said McCarthy. "To date, we have now donated $50,248 to these organizations."
